genetic research peach and nectarines
  • Genetic research

Since 2004 we have been developing a project of genetic improvement. This projects follows  Mr Vincenzo Ossani, who has been devoting himself to fruit-growing research and variety innovation for over thirty years. The project aims at obtaining new peach and nectarine cultivars so that the fruits have excellent taste and organoleptic qualities, elements which are of pivotal importance for the fruits to achieve market success. All this is carried out without neglecting size, colour, flesh consistency, how the fruit keeps on the tree, resistance to adversities and manipulation, and uniform ripening.
  • Development of new varieties

With the project of genetic improvement, a number of interesting varieties have been found, and they have been launched on the market at different times. Many more selections are being experimented and will be sold in the next few years.

The varieties found belong to a series called “Romagna” which is distinguished by its unique flavour, quality and rusticity.

The first variety to be presented was Romagna 3000® Nerid 88736* in 2006. It is a white-fleshed late nectarine which ripens on 20th August in Romagna.

Since then, we have registered nine varieties in total, of which five yellow-fleshed nectarines and four white-fleshed nectarines.
